Role Purpose
George Watson's College is seeking an experienced MIS Specialist or MIS Manager to lead the management, optimisation and development of the College's iSAMS platform.
This is a hands on contract role for someone with expert knowledge of iSAMS who can maximise the value of the system, improve data quality, develop meaningful reporting and dashboards, and support the wider school community through the effective use of data.
Working closely with stakeholders across academic and operational departments, you will ensure the College has accurate, accessible and insightful management information that supports decision making, compliance and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and maintain the College's iSAMS platform, ensuring it is fully optimised and effectively supports the needs of the business.
Act as the subject matter expert for all aspects of iSAMS, providing guidance, support and best practice across the College.
Review current processes and identify opportunities to improve the use of iSAMS.
Maintain high standards of data quality, integrity and governance.
Develop, maintain and enhance reports, dashboards and management information to support operational and strategic decision making.
Write and optimise SQL queries to extract, manipulate and analyse data.
Support the integration of iSAMS with other systems where required.
Provide advice and training to users to maximise adoption and capability.
Work with senior stakeholders to understand reporting requirements and translate these into meaningful management information.
Support statutory and regulatory reporting requirements.
Document processes, procedures and system improvements.
Identify opportunities for automation and continuous improvement.
Essential Skills and Experience
Expert knowledge of iSAMS with demonstrable experience administering and developing the platform.
Previous experience working within an independent school or education environment using iSAMS.
Strong SQL skills with the ability to write complex queries and interrogate large datasets.
Experience building reports, dashboards and management information.
Strong understanding of data management, data quality and data governance.
Experience analysing business requirements and translating them into reporting solutions.
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
Strong analytical and problem solving abilities.
Ability to work independently and manage priorities within a contract environment.
Desirable Skills
Experience integrating iSAMS with third party applications.
Knowledge of Microsoft Power BI or other Business Intelligence tools.
Experience of data migration and system implementation projects.
Understanding of education sector reporting requirements.
Experience supporting digital transformation initiatives.
